What is the treatment process of Carteyva?
Carteyva CAR-T cell therapy is a multi-step process that involves a single injection of Carteyva. Your treatment timeline may vary, as your care team will adjust it based on your individual needs.
Step 1 | Carteyva Consultation
After being admitted to the certified treatment center, you’ll meet with your care team for an initial evaluation to determine if you’re eligible for Carteyva.
Step 2 | T Cell Collection
T cells are the key compotent in CAR-T cell therapy, they are collected from your own body, and then delivered to manufacturing site for development of Carteyva. This process is also known as leukapheresis or apheresis.
Step 3 | Creating Carteyva
Your T cells are delivered to the Carteyva manufacturing center, where they will be developed into CAR T cells. It will take 2–3 weeks until your CAR T cells are ready.
Step 4 | Low-dose Chemotherapy
3 days prior to Cartey'va injection, you will have 3 days of low-dose chemotherapy to prepare your body for Carteyva.
Step 5 | Carteyva Injection & Close Monitoring
The CAR T-cell infusion typically takes about 30 minutes. You’ll stay at the hospital for at least one week so the medical team can closely monitor you for any potential side effects.
Step 6 | Returning Home & Recovery
Your treatment team will inform you when it’s no longer necessary to stay at the hospital, typically 2-3 weeks after your infusion. At that time, you may return home and begin seeing your local oncologist for follow-up care.
