Carvykti is a type of CAR-T therapy that involves modifying your own T cells—an essential part of your immune system that helps combat infections—so they can identify and attack a specific target found on the surface of multiple myeloma cells, as well as some healthy cells. The entire process typically spans about 2 to 3 months and involves a single infusion.
In Feburary 2022, Carvykti was approved by the US FDA for the treatment of multiple myeloma. Following this, in August 2024, the China NMPA also authorized its commercial use, marking a significant milestone for this innovative CAR-T cell therapy.

Adult patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma who have progressed after at least three lines of therapy (including at least one proteasome inhibitor and one immunomodulatory agent)

The approval of Carvykti in China was based on results from the phase II CARTIFAN-1 clinical trial (NCT03758417) conducted in China.
In the study of 58 patients, the overall response rate was 87.9%, with 79.3% achieving a complete response (CR) or stringent CR. Furthermore, 86.2% of patients attained a very good partial response or better. The median duration of response was 32.56 months, the median progression-free survival was 30.13 months, and the median overall survival has not yet been reached.

In China, CNCT19 is only provided at certified treatment centers, these centers/hospitals usually are leading hospitals in the region, where the medical staff are highly skilled in managing lymphoma, and are specially trained to take care of you during the entire CAR T-cell therapy process.
You should plan to stay at the certified treatment center for at least one week following the infusion, and you’ll have several appointments before and after the treatment.
